Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?”
declares the LORD.
“This is the one I esteem:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit,
and trembles at my word. (Isa 66:2)
In the past, I thought God doesn’t speak to anyone anymore. God only speaks to His chosen people like Abraham, Moses etc. (and after that… my family also convince me that the pope and other priests can speak to God as well). Anyway, ordinary people cannot do that. Or that’s what I thought…
When I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior; He spoke to me and prove to me that He can speak to anyone if He wants too. (He is a God and we can’t limit Him neh?) He speaks with His Children. (John 10:3)
He speaks in many ways. Some common ways are:
1. He speaks Audibly
2. He speaks through our hearts
3. He speaks through Scriptures (Bible)
4. He speaks through our Brothers and Sisters
In my Personal Experience, When He speaks within us it has more impact to me. I remember the time… I almost lost my faith and then I heard Him saying how He misses me. I cried so much that time (Even my earthly dad didn’t say ‘I miss you’ before but now he does
)
Another thing He speaks to me is through the Bible. But let’s face it. Sometimes… Reading the Bible is becoming a Ritual. When we read Isa 66:2… God wants us to TREMBLE at His words. Which means He wants us to be physically affected by the reality that He speaks to us. We should always ANTICIPATE something GREATER will happen to us when we read the Bible. The Bible said ‘The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom’ (Pro 9:10)
Our God can do ANYTHING… and I mean ANYTHING! If Jesus can raise the dead, calm a storm, cast out demons and heal sick people.. surely He can speak to us.
The Next time we read the Bible? Be sensitive to the Voice of God. Let’s do it with sense of Holy Expectation.
Father God… Give me a Spirit that is sensitive to your Voice… In Jesus Mighty name… Amen.
